Ongoing Psychiatric Medication Care for Children, Teens and Adults

Psychiatric medication management is ongoing care in which a licensed provider evaluates your symptoms, reviews your current and past medications, and adjusts your treatment plan over regular follow-up visits. The goal is treatment that works for you, with side effects watched closely.

One Stop Psychiatry provides medication management for children age 6 and older, teens and adults at our Fort Lauderdale office at 3015 N Ocean Blvd, Suite C101, and by telehealth anywhere in Florida. In-home visits are also available as a concierge service.

Same-day appointments may be available Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, when we accept your insurance. Call (754) 270-6322 and our staff will verify your coverage before your visit.

Curious about a specific drug? See the medications we manage, including sertraline (Zoloft), escitalopram (Lexapro), bupropion (Wellbutrin), trazodone quetiapine (Seroquel), plus venlafaxine, mirtazapine, lamotrigine, lithium and lurasidone (Latuda).

What Happens at Your First Medication Management Visit

Your first visit is a psychiatric evaluation. Your provider will typically:

  • Ask about your current symptoms and how they affect home, school, work and relationships
  • Review your mental health, medical and family history
  • Go over every medication you take now or have tried before, including what helped and any side effects
  • Discuss treatment options, including whether medication is appropriate, and the possible benefits and risks
  • Agree on a plan and a follow-up schedule with you

Medication is prescribed only when your provider decides it is clinically appropriate. Treatment can also include therapy and other supports.

What to Bring

  • Photo ID and insurance card
  • A list of current medications, doses and supplements
  • Names of medications you have tried before, if you know them
  • Your pharmacy name and location
  • Records from previous psychiatric providers, if you have them

A parent or guardian should attend appointments for children and teens.

Follow-Up Visits and Prescriptions

Your provider sets how often you are seen. Follow-up visits are used to check how you are responding, review side effects, and adjust doses or medications when needed.

  • Plan ahead. Schedule your next visit before your medication runs out.
  • Prescriptions are not automatic. Continuing or changing a prescription depends on your provider’s assessment.
  • Problems between visits. If you have side effects or are about to run out, call (754) 270-6322. Same-day appointments may be available during business hours.

Conditions We Treat With Medication Management

Our providers manage medication for conditions including depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, insomnia, PTSD, schizophrenia and OCD, as well as medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder. If ADHD has not been diagnosed yet, start with an ADHD assessment.

Getting Started: Ages, Providers, Insurance and Next Steps

Who We See

We care for children age 6 and older, teens and adults. A parent or guardian takes part in appointments for patients under 18. Our staff match each patient with a provider who treats their age group and concerns.

Who You May See

Medication management is provided by psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners and a physician assistant. Providers whose profiles describe medication management include Muhammad Nawaz, APRN, PMHNP-BC, whose focus includes clozapine and long-acting injectable medications; Michelle Koval, psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner; Heather Brathwaite, Ph.D., PMHNP-BC; and Dr. Andrew C. Rucker, DO, who focuses on children, adolescents and college-age patients. Meet all of our providers.

Insurance and Payment

Office and telehealth medication management visits are covered when your insurance plan covers them. Coverage depends on your individual plan, so our staff contact you to verify your insurance before your appointment is confirmed. In-home visits are not covered by insurance; our staff explain the fee before scheduling. See the insurance plans we accept.

What Happens After You Request an Appointment

  1. Send a request. Request an appointment online or call (754) 270-6322, Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  2. Our staff contact you. We usually call back the same business day. Requests sent after hours are returned the next business day.
  3. Insurance check. Staff verify your insurance or explain payment options before anything is scheduled.
  4. Intake packet. Staff send your intake packet to complete before the visit.
  5. Confirmation. Staff confirm your appointment time and whether your visit will be at our Fort Lauderdale office or by telehealth.

Your appointment is confirmed only after our staff confirm the time and location or visit format with you. Request a medication management appointment.
